Steve Sutton
Currently I am working for the Michigan Department of Natural Resource,
Fisheries Division as the Natural Rivers Program manager. The Natural
Rivers Program utilizes land use planning and development standards
to protect the habitat and scenic quality of 16 of Michigan’s
outstanding river resources statewide. For more information about the
Program, please visit our web page at http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153-30301_31431---,00.html
I began my career with the Department of Natural Resources in 1990 after
graduating from MSU with a BS in Resource Development and have worked
in the areas of sand dune protection, soil erosion control and the rivers
program.
During my Masters Program with Dr. Taylor, I plan to develop a project
that will improve the way the Natural Rivers Program is administered
and accepted by property owners and the Michigan legislature. I hope
to use the outstanding network of human resources at MSU to improve
the way my Program thinks about and interacts with riparian property
owners affected by Natural River designation.
When not saving the planet with the DNR, I enjoy great lakes boating,
fishing and diving with my wife Cheryl and three kids, Amanda, Colter,
and Sammy.
