The Water Quality, Environmental, and Molecular Microbiology Laboratory (WQEMM) is
located at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. Joan B. Rose, Ph.D., the HomerNowlin Endowed Chair of Water Research, Co-Director of the Center for Water Sciences, and
Co-Director of the Center for Advancing Microbial Risk Assessment, supervises the WQEMM Laboratory.
The Rose WQEMM laboratory consist of two labs, one in the Natural Resources building forgeneral water quality testing and the second in Crops and Soil Sciences building for
environmental molecular microbiology assays. The Natural Resources water quality laboratory
houses the only EPA certified Cryptosporidium and Giardia program for water testing in the state of Michigan.
