OUTREACH
Outreach
Engagement of stakeholders provides one of the greatest opportunities for making enduring contributions to fish and wildlife conservation. Our current outreach efforts focus on improving capacity of resource agencies to make effective decisions, professional development for agency personnel, program evaluation, and techniques to integrate human and environmental dimensions of deer management. We have also partnered with Michigan DNR to provide information and education needs of stakeholders in Michigan through coordination and administration of a wildlife outreach specialist.
OUTREACH activities provide reciprocal benefits to both the community and the university. For example, a community may receive valuable consultation from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources that helps them solve deer-related problems, while the MDNR and MSU obtain valuable insights about deer-human interactions that help shape plans for subsequent research projects conducted by Michigan State University and the MDNR.
