Microsoft Office Updates

Much like operating systems, Microsoft’s Office applications have inherent flaws or vulnerabilities built into them. Over time, hackers discover these vulnerabilities and write programs or viruses to try to exploit them. Application vendors, including Microsoft, release security updates in response to these exploits. Microsoft periodically releases updates and security patches for the Microsoft Office suite. Certain Office programs, particularly Microsoft Outlook, are targeted by hackers frequently for security holes.

Note: Office Updates will only work on "Microsoft Internet Explorer" NOT on any other web browsers.

 

Checking for Updates

1. Go to http://www.officeupdate.com and click on “Office Update”
   
   
   
   
2. If needed, install the ActiveX control or controls.
   
   
3. If asked, click the Continue button to begin Office validation. Click Continue again if needed.
   
   
4. Your browser will scan your office product and display with any available updates.
   
   
   
   
5. Once updates are available, click “Agree and Install”
   
   
   
   
6. Your browser will download and install any available update. Once you are done click “Finish”
   
   
   
   
7. You should repeat these steps until no further updates available.
