Adware & Spyware Scan

Spyware is a term used for any data collection program that secretly gathers information about your computer and data, and relays it to other parties. Adware usually displays banners or unwanted pop-up windows, but often includes spyware as well.

You can unknowingly install spyware on your computer when you install freeware software like; (LimeWire, KaZaA, iMesh, etc.). Many of these programs are intended to track your browsing habits, such as frequentely viewed sites and favorite downloads, then provide advertising companies with marketing data. It is critical to scan your computer on a daily basis and keep the spyware software up to date as new definitions are introduced daily

 

Scanning for Adware & Spyware

1. Start --> All Programs --> Lavasoft --> Ad-Aware 2007 --> Ad-Aware 2007
   
   
2. In the main screen select Scan and then Full Scan. Click the Scan button to start your scan.
   
   
   
   
3. Once the scan is completed, your scan results may look something similar to the screen below. Note: no Adware was found on this computer.

   Critical Objects: select everything under this menu and click “Remove”
   Privacy Objects: select everything under this menu and click “Remove”
