Course Requirements For CANR Biometry Program Dual PhD (CANR)/MS (STT)

There are two programs corresponding to the Applied and Regular MS in STT programs. The minimum course requirements include:

1. A minimum of 30 credits from statistics, probability, mathematics, biometry and/or a

field of application.

2. Applied linear algebra (Math 415).

3. One year of mathematical statistics (STT 441, 442 or STT 861, 862).

4. Exposure to computational statistics (STT 461).

5. Additional courses in biometry and statistics mixing heavily applied and more

theoretical topics. For the students who take STT 441-442, experience in consulting is

required.

The programs can be accomplished within the context of the existing Regular Master’s degree and the Applied Master’s degree in Department of Statistics and Probability if some exceptions to specific requirements are granted. Note that students are admitted on a case by case basis and the standard exceptions given below are allowed at the discretion of the Department of Statistics and Probability. Given below are the detailed course requirements with explicit statements of the requirements. A concise summary of what courses are usually required of CANR students is provided at the end of this document.

Detailed Requirements

Below we list the formal requirements for the Regular Master’s degree and the Applied Master’s degree in Department of Statistics and Probability and indicate in each case the exceptions that are granted for the Ph.D. Biometry students seeking these degrees.
