Biometry Ph.D. Students in the College of Agriculture and Natural
Resources (CANR) have the opportunity to dual enroll in MS programs in
the Department of Statistics and Probability.
Working agreements have been reached so that some CANR Biometry courses
count toward the Statistics degree requirements. A Ph.D. student
is considered to be a Biometry Student if their research emphasizes some
area of biometry and if their Ph.D. guidance committee includes a CANR
faculty member who endorses them. Entrance into a Masters program
in Statistics as a Biometry Student requires endorsement by a Biometry
Group member serving on the Ph.D. Committee and approval by the Statistics
Department.
If you plan to enter this program we recommend that you formally enroll as early in your Ph.D. program as possible. Note that to obtain the statistics degree you must complete all the Department of Statistics and Probability, the College of Natural Science, and University requirements in addition to the course requirements. These degrees are generally plan B Masters (non-thesis) and require passing an exam admistered by the Department of Statistics and Probability. More detail on these requirements are available on the Department of Statistics and Probability web page
The CANR coordinator for this program is Dr. Jim Bence. For
